Just a reminder about the Russell County Bird Club banquet. I haven't
received too many responses, so if you're planning on attending next

The Russell County Bird Club annual banquet is Tuesday, September 27th at
6:30 pm at Elk Garden United Methodist Church in Rosedale, VA. We will
meet at the parsonage next door to the church for the meal. The program
and gift swap will be in the fellowship hall. Local zoologist and
writer Bill Dunson is our guest and will present a program on the Alaskan
Kenai Peninsula - Birds and Other Animals.
The great cooks from the church will prepare our meal. The menu includes
oven-roasted chicken, pork loin, green beans, scalloped potatoes, salads,
rolls, desserts, soft drinks, tea, and coffee.
The cost is $18 per person, and I will need a head count by Friday the
23rd. You are responsible for the charge if you RSVP, as we will have to
pay the church whether you attend or not. Anyone may attend. You do not
have to be a member of the club so long as you make a reservation. You may
mail a check to John Kelly, 215 Longview Drive, Abingdon, VA 24211 or RSVP
by reply email and pay at the event.
We will have a gift exchange after the program. Each person who wants to
participate should bring a “birdy” gift. Please keep the cost under $10.
This is meant to be fun, not a burden.
The church is about 7 miles north of Lebanon. Turn right on Highway 80; it
is about ½ mile on the left. The address is 217 Hayter’s Gap Road,
Rosedale, VA.
