After my friend, Larry Pinson in Kentucky told me that he bought 40# of
black oil sunflower seeds at Tractor Supply for $14.98 earlier in the week I
went to the Vansant Tractor Supply today to check on it. The Vansant Tractor
Supply had them priced $18.98. When I explained about the sale in KY the
young lady there called the Williamsburg KY Tractor Supply and confirmed the
$14.98 price. She then let me buy them for that price. I asked how long the
seeds would stay at that price, and she replied, "until December 30, or the
present supply runs out." So, if anyone needs sunflower seeds, now is the
time to buy them. Tractor Supply will match any price, especially if it is
from another Tractor Supply. Just tell the cashier that they are selling for
that price in the store in Williamsburg, Ky.
For those of you who may buy them at the Vansant store tell the cashier that
one of their sales persons there has written the information about
Williamsburg Ky in the back of the book at the checkout counter.
In warmer weather or inside a warm building sunflower seeds do not store
well for a long period of time because of an insect that hatches inside the
seed and eats it, but in cold weather or in a cold building the seeds will
last for months. I store the 40# bags of seed in an unheated outbuilding in
plastic or metal trash cans to keep out the mice. I bought three bags, but
then I feed a lot of birds, especially during the cold winter weather.
