[bcbirdclub] Trapped Grackle

I was surprised to find this small grackle hanging upside down in our hedges
with monofilament fishing line wrapped around one foot. We hardly ever see
grackles here on the mountain. I don't know how long it had been hanging
there, but it was still fighting to get free. The line had cut into its leg,
but Lynda and I were able to cut it free. It was certainly glad to have its
freedom, and flew off in rush.
