Today my wife Lynda and I hosted our annual Warbler Day event here at our house
on Compton Mountain. Twenty birders came to enjoy the fall migration. We had a
good day with 61 species counted including 15 warbler species. A Wilson’s
Warbler was the most unexpected of the warblers. Unfortunately, it arrived
after the birders had already left. Some other goods birds were 2 Philadelphia
Vireos, a Least Flycatcher that also arrived in the evening, 2 Red-breasted
Nuthatches and a Pine Siskin. A Baltimore Oriole also came in late in the day.
Here are two photos, the Wilson’s Warbler and the Baltimore Oriole. The day’s
species list is below.
