Hi All,
For those who might be interested I decided to post the list of bird species
that were found on our recent birding trip to Arizona and Texas. There were 7
of us guys in a van, including David Raines and Dan Kendrick, who are BCBC
members. Dan was our unofficial trip guide, and did a great job of taking us to
great birding spots. Neil Smith, a great guy, a veteran birder and a cousin to
Dan and David, was along and he was a great help with pinpointing species in
certain areas.
Also along was Roman Mast, an Amish friend of Dan's with his two teenage sons,
Alan and Nathan. Both of the boys, ages 14 and 16, are nice young men,
excellent birders, and they got 140 new lifebirds on the trip. Roman, their
father is a very friendly, fun loving guy, and he kept us entertained with
funny stories.
While traveling, when we weren't listening to recorded bird songs or discussing
birding spots, we told stories, jokes and sang songs. David, who has a very
good singing voice, got several requests for songs from the rest of us.

We birded from Adams county in southern Ohio to the Southwest Wings festival
in Sierra Vista, Arizona. After participating in the festival, where we birded
with a couple of guides, we birded part of Arizona on our own, then headed down
into South Texas, then up the East Texas coast and into Louisiana.
We logged 237 species.

We had a fantastic trip, made new friends, explored some new areas of the
country and all of us got lifebirds. I will be doing a Power Point program
about the trip at our next bird club meeting next Monday, September 8.Come join
us.

Following is the species list and where they were found.
