Apparently Trump is not the only president who created a position for a
close family member. FDR created a position of secretary to the president
for his son, James. He also anointed him with a high officer's position in
the Navy which he hadn't earned. Second nugget: FDR refused to allow
military equipment to be sent to the republican forces in Spain. He said he
was remaining neutral. However, he did send military equipment to the
Fascist rebels. In effect, he was blockading the democratic government from
receiving military help while aiding Franco and this is why Franco won. It
had to do with the fear of Communism.
