I strongly suggest that everyone, including Carl who, I know, doesn't
usually read nonfiction books, read this one. It's only 3 hours long. As I
told the DB Review list, I read it a few years ago, but I'm rereading it
with a lovely human voice this time. And there's an introduction that wasn't
there when I read it the last time. This introduction was written on January
15, 2016 after Trump was elected, but before he actually took office. It
doesn't mention him at all. But it is truly heartbreaking because it
describes what people expected from Obama, what Obama promised, and what he
actually did. Having heard Sy Hersh being interviewed several times and
having read his book, Reporter, I know that he is a deeply caring and
ethical human being who has always been on the correct side in the issues
we care about and I know that there was a lot of emotion behind what he
wrote. The introduction to the book was not only objective journalism. It
was also a heartfelt editorial piece.

I read this on Bookshare when it first came out and will reread it again. It
is an important piece of journalism, particularly now after Hersh's latest
book, Reporter, is available and also, as a view which opposes the picture
provided in The World As It Is by Ben Rhodes, the new book on BARD by a
member of Obama's administration. I'm so pleased that NLS is willing to
provide some alternative views to its patrons who are swamped by those of
the mainstream media.
