Carl,
That's the conclusion that everyone who is sane and pragmatic has come to. Just
so we're all clear that if he wins, that's just the beginning of the fight. The
people who make me angry, are the ones who act as if this is a good choice, as
if his faults didn't exist. I heard an interview with the governor of Michigan
today, denying that Tara Reed's accusations have been verified. People have got
to do this with their eyes open.

Miriam,
And yet, I will probably vote for Joe Biden. My rationale is that given
another four years like the last four years, we will have lost any chance of
salvaging democracy. I voted for Jill Stein in both
2012 and 2016, knowing that my vote was a "throw away" vote, but unable to vote
for Obama again in 2012, after he gave us four years of playing footsies with
Corporate America, nor could I vote for Hilary Clinton and her aggressive
foreign policies. I have no belief in Biden, except the belief that he will at
least slow down the eventual Fall. Meanwhile, back in the drawing room, we
need to be putting together a long range plan for educating and recruiting and
drafting a new and improved agreement with "The People" all of the people.

Carl,
They're trying so hard to make lemonade from very bitter lemons. When
I listened to Thomas Ferguson before on The Analysis.News, he reminded
me about how when Obama took office, he could have done with our
society and economy, what FDR did. But he took half hearted measures
instead and as a result, we had a Republican sweep in 2010. In 2020 if
Biden wins and doesn't do what is necessary, Ferguson predicts, in
2022,we'll have something much worse than what happened in 2010.

If Bernie Sanders were the presumed candidate of the Democratic Party,
this letter might attract his attention, and open the door for
discussion and hopefully, basic changes in his positions.
But we're talking here about Joe Biden. If there were a national
award for Wishy Wash of the year, Joe would have a bunch of blue ribbons.
At best, at the real best, Joe Biden would be a place mark, holding
our nation in place while we worked to change direction and reinvent
democracy.
I had such a hope when Barack Obama took office in 2008, but once he
declared that he would not call for the investigation of War Crimes
and Torture by his predecessors, I could tell that he was not up to
taking charge.

Dear Miriam,
Instead of feeling helpless in the midst of a pandemic, we are using
this time to organize. Rather than accepting poor choices and endless
militarism, we have joined together — over 50 national organizations,
representing millions of Americans — to urge presumptive Democratic
presidential candidate Joe Biden to adopt and run on a principled,
peaceful foreign policy platform. Along with Demand Progress, Win
Without War, Indivisible, American Friends Service Committee, and
many many more, we are calling on Biden to:
* Repeal the 2001 AUMF and respecting congressional war powers
* Reduce the Pentagon budget
* Engage diplomatically with Iran and North Korea
* Support a just resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict
* Oppose all regime-change interventions and broad-based sanctions
* Rejecting discriminatory immigration policies and support refugees
* Close Guantanamo
* Ending support for governments, such as Saudi Arabia, Israel, Egypt,
and
the Philippines that violate human rights
* Prioritizing diplomacy and avoid militarizing our relations with other
powers such as Russia and China

_ alert&n=5> ADD YOUR NAME NOW TO THIS IMPORTANT LETTER TO JOE BIDEN.
After we reach 10,000 signatures, we will deliver it to Biden.
As the letter makes clear:
“Our country and many others are woefully unprepared for the crisis
that we now face. Without extraordinarily bold leadership, this is
likely to be the beginning of a period of profound instability for
the entire planet... For decades, U.S. foreign policy has been overly
focused on confrontation with perceived adversaries and the global
projection of U.S. military power.
Doing so has militarized our response to global challenges, distorted
our national security spending priorities, toxified our political
discourse, and left us woefully ill-prepared to confront the growing
transnational threats to human security we face today that do not
have military solutions.”
Every four years, we at CODEPINK launch a President for Peace
campaign to call on all candidates to adopt a peace platform to move
our country from militarism to human needs, like healthcare,
education, and green jobs. Many of us feel despair when we hear
Biden’s bad positions, such as keeping the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem
or supporting sanctions on Cuba and regime change in Venezuela.
Rather than tuning out though, we are mobilizing with the demands of
the people: A PRINCIPLED PEACEFUL FOREIGN POLICY PLATFORM!
