Your memory is better than mine...but now that you mention it, I do
recall struggling through some sort of political jabber. Still, I've
pretty much turned away from listening to the staged affairs. It's
all part of the "Big Show". I was just reading a new book on BARD,
talking about how corrupt the prison system is in this nation.
Everything is iup for sale. Education, health, housing, all up to the
highest bidder.
And now it's time to stop for dinner.

for the presidential candidacy in 2012 or maybe, it was 2008. I remember
because I wondered how you could stand listening to them.
As for memory lapses, mine are becoming distressing. The latest important
one prevented me from voting. I've been voting by absentee ballot for years,
ever since moving around began getting more difficult. In New York, if
you're disabled, you can receive absentee ballots for all elections. But I
never received one for this election and I never even noticed that I hadn't,
not until Monday when it was too late. Well perhaps if I were still in
Nassau County and had someone to go ask for another one, I could have gotten
one because the Board of Elections was close to where I lived. But not here
in Suffolk. I think it's located miles away. I wanted to ensure that I was
still in their files and yesterday, I couldn't get through on the phone.
They only had a message machine at the extension I needed and it was full
and couldn't take any more messages. I reached them today and they said they
sent out my ballot on September 23. Everyone here hates the federal
government so the man who talked with me said sarcastically, "It must be our
great post office!" Well, it might be the post office or my home health aide
or my daughter might have just tossed it, thinking it was an ad. It might
have been the substitute aide. Or the man might be correct and it was never
delivered. Being dependent on other people along with a bit of memory loss
is a bitch!

I've put it on my calendar, but I find that I can forget it even then.
I suppose it might help to look at my calendar a couple of times each day.
I usually begin with good intentions, and remember it the next day. I think
that the last "debate" that I watched was John Kennedy and Richard Nixon. I
thought I would really learn something. Shame on me! The "talking heads"
who commented following the "debate", talked mostly about how un photogenic
Nixon was, and that his looks would probably cost him huge numbers of votes.
On the other hand, Kennedy, according to the wise commentators, would never
be elected because Americans did not want their nation run by the Pope.
I had thought the debate would be on issues...but I can't recall a single
one, after so many years. Still, the shallow minds of the "Talking Heads"
made a lasting impression.

any of the debates and I'm not sure why I should behave differently
regarding this one, just because it's called a forum and Amy is
moderating it. I think that the last time I watched a debate was in
2012 and it was one portion of a debate between Obama and Romney.
