I listened to that podcast episode on Friday. It was the Thursday night
episode. He's really describing the difference between a simplicist anti-war
position and one based on an understanding of the history underlying each
conflict.

This interview is an episode of The Socialist Program with Brian Becker, a
podcast providing news and views about the world for those who want to change
it. You can follow the show on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Brian Becker reviews the history of heated debate within the socialist movement
over the necessity of taking a principled, anti-imperialist position in
opposition to the U.S. war machine. Almost 18 years ago, George W. Bush
launched the invasion of Iraq, a conflict that would ultimately take the lives
of over a million Iraqis. Whether and how to oppose this war — and others like
the 1991 Gulf War or the 2011 war on Libya — has been a persistent topic of
debate.

Charles Bukowski “For those who believe in God, most of the big questions are
answered. But for those of us who can't readily accept the God formula, the big
answers don't remain stone-written. We adjust to new conditions and
discoveries. We are pliable. Love need not be a command nor faith a dictum. I
am my own god. We are here to unlearn the teachings of the church, state, and
our educational system. We are here to drink beer. We are here to kill war. We
are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will
tremble to take us.” ― Charles Bukowski
