Your well-considered remarks are not commensurate with such statements as they
“hate the stream.”
You are right, of course, each device has its good and bad points. But from
Marsha’s description of the remarks, it sounded to me like it was being said
that the stream was junk, and the DTBM was great.
I agree with you about the speaker on the DTBM. But, even on the first
generation stream, you can record notes to yourself, phone numbers, whatever.
You can play bookshare books and audible books. Can’t do any of that on the
DTBM. And I find navigation on the stream to be easier, too. So, as I said,
each has its good and bad. No need to trash one in favor of the other.
Alice I can’t speak for Marsha, but that is what I objected to...

I have the first generation stream, not the second generation stream and
it's true that the new stream allows you to connect to the internet. The
first generation stream does not. It has qualities however, that I like
better than the NLS player. But the NLS player has a wonderful speaker and
also, if you have any hearing problems, it is easier to play around with the
volume, speed, and tone, to make it easier to hear a particular book than it
is with the stream. Perhaps that's what they were talking about.

Perhaps I am missing something. I went to an NFB meeting on Saturday.
What a mess. One person suggested that people should put diapers on dog
guides.
That's not what this message is about but I just had to say that. I must
be missing something. They were saying how much better the Talking Book
player was so much better than the Victor Stream. They were talking about
how they hated the Stream.
I really love my Stream. It is the second best thing beyond my computer.
I can do so many things with it.
