Miriam and All,
It's called the Corporatization of democracy. Corporate Power has
replaced democracy at the national level, and is fast stamping out the
remains of democracy at the state and local levels. The former United
States of America(USA)has been replaced by the American Corporate
Empire(ACE). Citizens have been replaced by Consumers. The once
United States(in theory only)are beyond pretending to be united.
Former factions and organizations are becoming independent entities,
declaring war upon all those who speak out against them.
This is not to say that nothing positive is going on. But it is to
say that democracy is losing, and once it is defeated many of those
good works that still exist will be crushed.

There's been an ongoing discussion of Windows 11. One person used XP until
2018. If ever I've seen a bunch of people victimized by Capitalism, it's
all
the credulous, loyal, blind computer users.
