Hi Miriam,
I guess all I can say here is 'it figures." When it comes to foreign policy,
the United States has clearly done more bad than good. IT is amazing how
many of us, including yours truly have been mislead beginning with high
school textbooks regardign just what exactly what this country stands for.
Seems most nations don't stand for much that is truly good. Also, when one
takes a broad look at our sordid history, not much has changed when it comes
to foreign policy. Whet'er it's the gun boats of the late 1900's, The many
brutal governments we've supported during the 20th century and now the
perpetual war on terror, the US is a bully nation whose wish it has always
been to afflict the afflicted and to comfort the comfortable.
Yes, many other nations have similar histories and have a lot for which to
be ashamed. But the difference is that we have more military might which
we've had for a very long period of time.
Will we ever wake up as a people and do the right thing? Clearly, not in my
life time if ever. Is it too early in the day for a stiff drink?
