But I do think that Trump is mentally unstable. He is an extreme narsacist, (I
can't remember the actual diagnostic term), and he has other intellectual
limitations like being illiterate. What he can do is manipulate people. In the
past, he used the power of his father's money and the money that he derived
from it. Now he has the power of the office of the president. As for the
appointments, he appointed the people whom he was told to appoint by his
advisors. He is a showman and he knew how to please his reality show audience.
His advisors used that ability of his to help him appeal to a particular
political base. Trump was always a racist male chauvinist, but he was also a
New York Democrat. Someone had to show him how to appeal to midwestern
Republicans and Evangelicals. He's a canny manipulator, but he's uneducated,
somehow with a degree from Wharton Business School. Well, look at George W.
Bush. You can be really stupid and still get a degree from a fancy college and
become President if you come from the right family. Bush also had people
advising him.

There are far too many Americans who believe that Donald Trump is now truly
paranoid and totally unhinged.
This speaks to his ability as an entertainer. And he follows the current
pattern of entertainers who are succeeding as Important Public Figures.
This has no bearing on Donald Trump's ability to understand the nation's
politics. He has carefully appointed an army of people to take care of that.
My youngest daughter is much like your description of your daughter.
Renae might as well be the poster child for today's Young Adult Association.
I'd rant a bit, but my cousins are here from Minnesota, and we're meeting in
Port Townsend to have lunch and then to visit with my one remaining aunt. She
is 91 and in frail health, so we'll visit her at her apartment.

coverage of McCain's funeral. And then, of course, I displeased her
even more because I said that they're always doing that and it's
stupid and counterproductive. The more they criticize him publicly for
every little thing, the more really terrible things he does in
response. She said that everything will get better in
2020
when someone else is elected, and I pointed out that when Obama was
elected, the policies that Bush initiated, continued and escalated.

rump's rants are escalating in dangerous ways. At his rally last night
in Indiana Trump said: "Today's Democrat Party is held hostage by
left-wing haters, angry mobs, deep-state radicals, establishment
cronies and their fake-news allies," and that "our biggest obstacle
and their greatest ally actually is the media." He also lashed out at
the FBI and the Justice Department, claiming that "people are angry"
and threatening to personally "get involved."
Why is the president of the United States claiming a huge conspiracy
against him?
(as) He's now truly paranoid and totally unhinged.
(b) He wants to fire Sessions (and Mueller), stir up his base so
they'll go to the polls Election Day, and threaten the nation with
civil unrest if he's ever impeached.
