Miriam:
In my opinion you will have to obtain a highly educated public (which we do not have) before you can obtain a strong public voice. It may be that a few thousands can make a lot of noise and appear to be 'strong' but such is not the usual condition.
In my opinion.

I can understand your friend's position. The problem is that no matter what

is about to change, but I want a strong public voice providing an
alternative narrative on Israel Palestine other than the one presented by
the mainstream voices.

well if Joe runs it would be another candidate that I couldn't get excited
about. Interestingly though I have a friend who is very pro-Palestine and
very progressive but he isn't supporting Bernie because of his ongoing
support for Israel.

Since I'm usually wrong when it comes to political predictions, I'll just
crawl out here on this old limb with my handy saw.
No, I'm not going to speculate on whether or not Old Joe will run.
But I do have some wondering about what would be his motive for running.
My first thought was that Joe had a Platform that was not being addressed by
the other candidates in the Democratic Party. But Joe has been all over the
map in his 30 years in Congress and his 8 years as vice president. So if a
track record is any indication, Old Joe has no particular Platform.
Now if he is running because his handlers feel Hillary could not stand up to
Donald Trump, or whichever clown the Republicans trot out, then Joe will
sink the Democratic Boat, for sure. He would most likely split Hillary's
support, allowing that Socialist Democrat, Bernie Sanders to reach the
finish line. There is no way that Old Joe can believe he would draw away
from Bernie. Even at his wildest, most Devil-may-care moments, Joe is far
too cozy with the Empire to even pretend to support the social issues being
proposed by Bernie.
If he were a "Good Party Soldier", Joe Biden would throw his support to the
Party candidate who stands the greatest chance of winning in November. At
this time, that would be Hillary Clinton. But since both Parties are in
shambles, it looks as if we're in a Political Free For All.
