Councillor Hutchinson,
I refer to your enquiry regarding temporary bus stops being put in place when
bus services are diverted due to roadworks.
Temporary stops are considered for all diverted routes and are generally put in
place where there is a safe position to site them. I apologise that there was
not temporary stop in place during this closure as this was an oversite.
Further closures are planned for this location starting from Friday and I am in
discussion with First bus over a suitable place to site a stop during this work.
When contractors have to close bus stops, it is a stipulation that they site
notices to indicate the closures. I will contact the team responsible for this
project and remind them to ensure that notices are sited in future.
Additionally, it is the responsibility of the bus operator to site notices
advising passengers of service diversions and I apologise that this information
was not provided this time. I will ask colleagues at First Aberdeen to ensure
that they have notices at stops and on buses for the closure that is due to be
implemented this week.
Should you require any additional information, please don’t hesitate to contact
me.
Best regards,

Subject: Temporary Bus Stops
Dear Chris,
At a recent community council meeting, there were a few concerns raised about
the lack of temporary bus stops while buses were diverted.
I understand that buses were diverted while work was undertaken to install
traffic lights at the junction of Park Road and Urquhart Road.
My constituents asked why no temporary stops were put in place and also
suggested that some not-in-use bus stops did not have signs saying so,
resulting in people were still waiting in them.
I would welcome any comments that you could offer about this and whether 'Not
in use' signs and temporary bus stops may be used any differently in future.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Michael
