Good morning, everyone.
I participated in the Corporate Cup communications team last night, and I
want to make a couple of comments.
Firstly, I was very impressed with everyone's ability to participate in a
disciplined and efficient manner. I was especially impressed by the
wonderful job that Chris did as net control--I learned a lot just by paying
attention to how Chris managed things.
Secondly, the use of the portable repeater made a big difference in our
ability to hear each other. I don't know how hard it is to set this up on
an ad hoc basis, but if we ever face a true emergency having the repeater
available is apt to make things work more smoothly.
Overall, I think that our participation in these sorts of events is both a
chance to make a contribution to the community and also a wonderful
opportunity to practice skills that will serve us well in the event of an
emergency. It was also a great way to spend a few hours with friends and
fellow ops.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the next meeting and Field Day.

I used to work the VHF contest and would like to
get back to it. I have a 6m vertical arrow dipole that I
hope can be modified for SSB and an Arrow dual band
satellite antenna, what I wish I could trade for an Elk dual
band or some 2m/432 antenna that have elements in the same
plane. I have a Wouxon dual band HT that I would like to
trade for some sort of Omni 2m and/or 432 SSB antenna system
or even sale.
