The New England QSO Party is coming up fast. It will be held the
weekend of May 6-7. The local times are 4 PM Saturday to 1 AM Sunday,
and Sunday 9 AM to 8 PM. Notice that this is after NEAR-Fest shuts
down. It was planned that way on purpose. The bands covered are 10
thru 80 Meters. Modes are Phone and CW/Digital. For the exchange, you
send your county abbreviation, and they send state/province (DX stations
send signal report and "DX"). New England stations send county and
state.
Won't you consider getting on the air for some of the 20 hours? Going
mobile is encouraged, too. Every time you cross a county line the
action starts over again. It's amazing what a 100w radio and mobile
whip can do.

There are two other contests on the air this weekend. They are the
7QP, and the Indiana QSO Party. 7QP stands for the 7 call area - kind
of like NEQP stands for the 1 call area. Fortunately N1MM logging
software can automatically log for all three contests at once. N1MM
software allows users to log stations active in all three QSO parties
and automatically determine the state multiplier from the received
exchange (other contest county exchange). Log the exact exchange that
is received and send the same Cabrillo output to all three contest
sponsors. When setting up, select VT QSO party. When operating, log
the exchange that you receive and send the same Cabrillo file without
editing to all three sponsors. All sponsors re-calculate the score of
all submissions.
N1MM supports the shorthand county exchanges (e.g.,"ORDES/JEF" or
"IDFRA/UTCAC") and will log one QSO for each valid exchange. The /
refers to someone operating from a county line.
