Lysterfield Lake walk Sunday 25 September
Hello
It's a lovely patch of Melbourne, have been there before (on bike) and
now it's my feet's turn to enjoy it. Originally farmland, and a water
reservoir for the Mornington Peninsula, it is now a lovely park and a
precious example of natural forest and bushland close to Melbourne.
The walk will be along walker only trails nearly all the way
(Lysterfield Park is also well used by mountain bike riders). We will
stop at a lookout which overlooks Melbourne's eastern suburbs. A great
walk close to Melbourne.
This walk is rated as medium. The distance walked is about 12km, which
will take approximately 5 hours to complete (longer with breaks).
Please assess your own fitness before joining this walk.
For those who have "Day Walks Victoria" (Chapman and Siseman), this is
walk no. 22.
When: 10am, Sunday 25 September (weather forecast says it's going to be
dry and cloudy, top 15 degrees)
Where: Meet at Lysterfield Lake carpark, at the end of Horswood Road
(off Belgrave-Hallam Road) (Melway ref 108 D2, or google "Horswood
Road").
Bring: water (important!) and food for lunch and snacks. There is a
kiosk at the start/end of the walk but no facilities along the walk.
Leader: Simon Andersson (myself). Contact on 0411 489 093 or at
deafbushwalkvic@xxxxxxxxxxx to confirm attendance. The walk may be
cancelled due to weather or low attendance, so letting me know if you
are coming is important. A decision will be made on Saturday 24
September in the evening whether or not to go ahead. If you do want to
come, important to let me know before then.
