Have you heard about our Safe Travel on Metro Trains travel training program?
We offer two free programs:
1) A one hour rail safety presentation
2) Safe Travel on Metro Trains - Travel Training
Safe Travel on Metro Trains
The Metro Trains Community Education Unit has had great success in delivering
our Safe Travel on Metro Trains program to community groups including new
arrivals, seniors and passengers with additional needs.
Our Safe Travel on Metro Trains program promotes safe independent travel and
provides valuable tips on how to purchase a myki and where to get assistance
when travelling on the rail network. We are also able to tailor our
presentations to address specific needs. These excursions are provided free of
charge for groups of 10 – 15 participants.
Please note: participants will need to have a valid myki to travel. Attending
Community Education Unit staff can assist participants with purchasing and
topping up myki cards.
Below is a summary of our Safe Travel on Metro Trains program:
· Meet local Authorised Officers and learn about their role on public
transport
· Information about myki fares, concession travel and public transport
apps to assist with journey planning.
· Learn how to purchase/top up myki cards using card vending machines
and how to validate tickets using fare payment devices.
· Guided tours of two premium railway stations including the customer
service desk, platforms, safety zone, passenger information displays, level
crossings/underpasses/overpasses and accessibility options.
· Return journey on a Metro Train accompanied by Authorised Officers
who will explain how to board and disembark safely, expectations when
travelling on Metro Trains and how to get assistance in emergencies.
· Information brochures to assist with future travel
I work with schools and community groups along the Hurstbridge and South Morang
lines Monday – Friday between the hours of 9:00am and 1:30pm.
If you’re interested in learning more about the Community Education Unit and
our programs, I’d be happy to visit to chat more about what we offer.
Alternatively, feel free to contact me if you’d like to book a session for one
of your community groups.
I am also happy for you to share this information with people in your network.
Kind regards
Kelli Williams
