In a Federal Ministerial re-shuffle announced today (19 December 2017), Dan
Tehan will be the new Minister for Social Services. He replaces Christian
Porter, who will be the Attorney-General.NDS welcomes the appointment of Mr
Tehan, who moves from being the Minister for Veterans' Affairs. He has been the
Member for Wannon since 2010 (located in South-Western Victoria).Mr Tehan will
be the Cabinet Minister responsible for the NDIS, Disability Employment
Services, Disability Enterprises and income support payments, including
Disability Support Pension. His predecessor, Christian Porter, focussed
strongly on welfare reform. NDS will seek a meeting with Mr Tehan early in the
New Year to discuss the implementation of the NDIS and the future of disability
employment support.
