This competition aims to highlight the creativity of the blindness community and promote their cultural contribution. Importantly, it also enables people who are vision-impaired to tell their own stories in their own words. These awards date back to 1921 and we are honoured to keep them alive. There are seven categories, each of which has first prize of a Vision Australia Equipment Solutions voucher to the value of $500. Categories Adult - 25 years and older Fiction (no more than 1000 words) Non-fiction (no more than 1000 words) Young Adult - 16 to 24 years Fiction (no more than 1000 words) Non-fiction (no more than 1000 words) Youth - those under 16 years Fiction (no more than 500 words) Non-fiction (no more than 500 words) Open - All ages Best autobiographical piece on living with blindness and low vision (no more than 1000 words) Entry criteria Entries will be judged anonymously - please put your name on a separate cover sheet, not on the story pages, and number the pages of your entry. Entries longer than the word limit will not be eligible for judging. Please allow sufficient time to edit your entry down to the word length required if necessary and put a word count on your entry.
