can cast a telephone vote now.

Canning voters who are blind or have low vision can cast a telephone vote now.
Media Release from Australian Electoral Commission.

Voters who are blind or have low vision can vote over the telephone for
Saturday’s Canning by-election, without having to leave their homes.

Australian Electoral Officer for Western Australia, Marie Neilson reminded
blind and low vision Canning voters that registrations will remain open until
midday this Saturday, byelection day.

“Canning voters who are blind or have low vision can call 1800 913 993 now to
register for a telephone vote,” Ms Neilson said.

Once registered, voters can then place a separate call to cast their telephone
vote up until the close of polls at 6pm on Saturday.

Telephone voters will not need to give their name when they cast their vote.
Their registration details will be used to mark their name off the electoral
roll, ensuring their vote remains secret.

“Canning voters who are blind or have low vision can have confidence that they
can cast their vote in secret,” Ms Neilson said.

Blind or low vision voters can also vote with assistance at a polling place on
by-election day or at one of the early voting centres.

official guide to the 2015 Canning by-election, is available at
