Do you want to trigger the next tablet-based learning revolution? *About the Company* Our goal is to build the premier digital destination for early childhood learning. We believe combining the educational elements of physical play with the learning potential (and fun!) of digital software can create the most effective and engaging learning environment for preschool-aged children, and a solution for data-driven parents who want to better understand their child’s unique development level and needs. Our first product is Tiggly Shapes, a set of 4 geometric shapes that are designed to work with learning apps on tablets. But shapes are just the beginning: we have several new physical products under development, and we need a visionary yet execution-focused CTO to be the architect of our digital footprint. *About the Role* * * We are looking for a rockstar CTO who is passionate about education and who will put the same amount of energy and dedication into Tiggly that our founding team does. We’re a small team so you will immediately take on a leadership role within the start-up and play a crucial role in the development and growth of the company. Specific responsibilities include: - Conceive &develop Tiggly’s data collection and backend reporting system to parents - Conceive & establish the architecture underlying Tiggly’s subscription service (2014 launch) - Work with animators/programmers to implement all artistic and game design components - Represent the company with investors,technologists, educators, and at conferences - Recruit a technical team to execute on your vision *Qualifications* * * The ideal candidate should be able to “skate where the puck is going to be, not where it has been.” We need a visionary CTO with fresh ideas about the solutions we can offer to our customers whether they’re children, parents, teachers, or academics – and the capacity to execute on those ideas. *Candidate requirements:* - Experience in development methodology that is consistent with a startup: iterative software development (sprints), understanding the importance of pivoting, and being able to manage and grow and modify the team makeup according to business requirements - A solid foundation in software design with strong competencies in data structures, database design, data mining, and network design - Experience with big data / NoSQL databases for gathering and analyzing user behavior. - Possess keen insight on how to create meaningful analytics from data collected - Experience with iOS software development Ability to direct / lead an offshore development team - Ability to create a technology roadmap, implement milestones, and produce periodic reports showing progress - - Ability to interact with investors as well as the media to best reflect the goals and mission of the company - Experience in web technology and ability to understand user experience to grow the company's online presence - Technical knowledge should include:iOS (Objective-C), web development languages (PHP, RoR, Java/jsp, or .NET), database (NoSQL preferred, like: MongoDB, CouchDB, Jackrabbit, etc), HTML5, Android SDK. - Experience in education technology is a plus *About our Progress* * * Tiggly’s first set of physical products and 3 launch apps launched in October 2013. Our products are currently sold on Tiggly.com, in the European retailer Imaginarium (>350 stores), on Nordstrom.com, and in select specialty retailers in the US. We have also received an order from a premium global retailer to sell in retail stores in North America, the EU and Australia in 2013, before moving to China, Japan and Korea in January 2014 – we can’t tell you which retailer here, but we know you’ll be excited when you learn who it is. We raised money from the founders, friends, and family in our Seed 1, and in October 2013 we completed our Seed 2 financing from a VC firm. We are headquartered at WeWork Labs in New York City. *About our Team* Our team brings together a diverse set of backgrounds that include education, consulting, finance, media, and marketing. Amongst our team and advisors we have experience at PBS, Disney, Sesame Street, McKinsey, and Goldman Sachs.
