This symposium will study the interplay between learning sciences and
open learning environments. Specifically, it will address:

    * How theory, strategies, and methods from the learning sciences are
applied to the design of open learning environments and
    * How the use and evaluation of open environments inform the
      learning sciences.

JOIN US as we bring together learning scientists and developers to share
information. We will:

    * Focus on theories, best practices, and current issues in the field
of open education resources, as well as identify new areas for
      research.
    * Explore models of effective web-based open learning environments
    * Discuss ways developers can apply theories, strategies and methods
from the learning sciences to their designs.
    * Discuss ways digital environments can support analysis of student
use to inform development and provide data for research in the
      science of learning.

WHEN: *March 10-12, 2008*
