The IEEE standards working group on Adaptive Instructional Systems,
IEEE P2274.1 <http://sites.ieee.org/sagroups-2247-1/>, is chaired by Dr.
Robert Sottilare of the US Army Research Lab. Eric Domeshek of
Stottler-Henke, Inc. is the Vice Chair. The goal is to develop standard
classifications and terminology that will allow vendors and customers to
consistently describe the design and functionality of an AIS. Subsequent
technical standards will use this taxonomy and terminology. Future
standards projects in the AIS working group might address an AIS conceptual
model, AIS modular interoperability, and perhaps structural guidelines for
learner, pedagogical, and domain models.
