First Call for Papers

The Society for Learning Analytics research is pleased to announce that
the CFP for the 5th International Conference on Learning Analytics &
Knowledge “Scaling Up: Big Data to Big Impact” is now open. The
conference will take place March 16-20, 2015 at Marist College in
Poughkeepsie, NY, USA.

LAK15 will keep up the momentum generated in the earlier conferences as
we continue to define who we are as a community and how our research can
impact the important decisions facing education today. The continuously
growing amount of, and access to, teacher- and learner-generated data
opens new possibilities, for instance, for researchers to better
understand how learners learn, for educational technologists to create
tools supporting teachers and learners, for educators to assess the
impact of teaching activities and interventions, and for learners to
receive personalized, real-time, automated support impacting their
learning behavior. Coupled with increasing societal demands to make
learning more accessible and effective for all, we need scholarly
research to ensure that advances in learning technologies and practices
impact and benefit society as a whole.

The theme for LAK15 shifts the focus from data to impact, reinforcing
the notion that Learning Analytics is on the cusp of scalability and
continues to grow in importance in education and learning. We invite
papers that address the impact of learning analytics and especially
encourage submissions that demonstrate how the work is relevant to
improving learning for people of all ages, leverages the technologies
available to today's learners, and is scalable within the many places
where learning occurs. To accomplish these goals, we seek theoretically
motivated papers that utilize analytics to provide direction for
understanding and impacting learning.
Please see the Author Instructions
(http://lak15.solaresearch.org/author-instructions) for details on
submitting conference papers. The deadline for submissions is October
14, 2014.
