We are looking for motivated students who have strong interest in the area
of data science and machine learning for human-centered applications,
including recommender systems and learning analytics.



Preferable Background:

The selected candidates should demonstrate strong interests and relevant
training/skills including:

* Completed B.S./M.S. degree(s) in one of the related disciplines: Computer
Science/Engineering, Information Sciences, Mathematics, Applied Statistics.

* Excellent writing and spoken English skills

* Experience with computational environments (R, Matlab); programming
skills in scripting languages (Python, Perl, Javascript, etc.) and/or in
major languages (Java, C, C++); previous coursework and/or practical
experience in machine learning



Admitted students will be enrolled in the doctoral program in the
Department of Computer Science at University at Albany - SUNY, and will
work with Prof. Shaghayegh (Sherry) Sahebi on developing innovative methods
in: Data Mining and Data Analytics, Machine Learning for User-Adaptive
Systems, Learning Analytics, Recommender Systems, Social Network Analysis,
and other related topics.
