Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position to work on Research
Grants at the Advanced Learning Technologies Lab at Worcester Polytechnic
Institute, led by
Prof. Ivon Arroyo. The position is funded for 2-3 years. The
successful candidate
will work with Dr. Ivon Arroyo and a research team at WPI and across
universities in New England on several NSF funded research projects
involving
math learning technologies for K-12 level, that integrate cognitive
perspectives as well as metacognitive and affective perspectives, and rich
data analysis and modeling.
A blend of Educational Data Mining skills (data extraction/manipulation,
predictive modeling, structural modeling) with Cognitive/Learning Sciences
and Math Learning technologies/HCI experience would make an ideal candidate
.
The post-doc in Learning Sciences and Technologies will help to answer
research questions involving data extracted from math tutoring software,
support studies in public schools using these learning technologies, help
direct a few undergraduate/graduate students in data collection/extraction,
data analysis, and student modeling to answer research questions and
publish
research articles.
Start date is Fall 2017 or Winter 2018.
The ideal candidate has an interdisciplinary profile, with a Ph.D. in
Psychology, Learning Sciences, Intelligent Systems or HCI/Computer
Science/AI, with experience at the edge of Learning Sciences, Computer
Science/Data MIning, and Mathematics Education/Psychology, and the
desire to work with K-12 level students as they learn mathematics with
novel technologies.
