Dear all,

Our company, Educational Initiatives (EI) is interested in creating a Centre
for Research on Educational Data Mining to conduct research in this area and
also to analyse the rich learning data being generated by our assessment and
learning systems. The centre may either be a division of EI or created
jointly in collaboration with the Computer Science of a leading university
or institute of technology. We are searching for candidates to join us in
this effort.

EI (www.ei-india.com) is a 9 year old company working in the areas of
student assessment and learning mainly in India, but also in the Gulf,
Singapore and other countries in South Asia. EI's vision is a world where
children everywhere are learning with understanding. EI works both with
private as well as government schools in over 18 languages. Partners and
clients include Google, the World Bank, UNICEF, Wipro Ltd., the Government
of Bhutan, various

state governments of India as well as most leading schools.

Our assessments are diagnostic and low-stakes in nature and taken every year
by 400,000 to 500,000 students across private and government schools. ASSET
is the largest test of its kind in India and taken by students of grades 3
to 10 (ages 7 to 15).

3 years ago, we created Mindspark (www.mindspark.in) an adaptive
computer-based, Mathematics learning product. It will be used by about
15,000 students during this academic year. A majority of these students will
use them from school in scheduled sessions corresponding to 70-100 minutes
of usage per week. This regular scheduled usage generates a huge amount of
invaluable student data and its volume is expected to sharply increase in
the coming years. Analysis of this data can help answer a number of
questions about how learning happens which in turn can help build better
learning products and inform

curriculum design.

If you are interested in joining this institute, which will be based in
India, please write for more details. Candidates should have a background in
Computer Science and some experience in working with large-scale educational
data
