The great gardening give-away
The annual Waltham Forest Council bulb and compost giveaway is returning for
autumn 2018 – it’s a great chance to start home-growing and community
gardening. The council has 25,000 bulbs to give away, including hyacinths,
daffodils and crocuses.
The bulbs have been specially chosen because they multiply easily and
displays will improve year-on-year. The planting programme will begin with
local schools on the Friday, and then continue with other groups over the
weekend of 20 and 21 October.
There is also 225 tonnes of compost to collect from the following locations
as part of our free compost giveaway, running from Monday 15 to Sunday 21
October. Pick up yours at:
Church Lane car park, E11 4QN, Low Hall sports ground, E17 8AX and Kings Road
Reuse and Recycling Centre, Larkshall Road, E4 7HZ.
Community groups, schools and gardening clubs can request bulbs by emailing:
