Hi all,
Just thought i'd update everyone with what's going on with the 'cocktail bar'.
I've got several infusions on the go, all hopefully timed to be ready for Sept
9th:
Elmfield Elderberries in Vodka (all stems, non-ripe berries etc removed - yes,
i know about the poisonous bits!)
Elmfield pears in vodka with ginger, blueberries and Elmfield Blackberries
Elmfield tomatoes in vodka
Elmfield mint in white rum
Also have elmfield blackberry juice (frozen) for mixing and will probably knock
up a bit of blackberry vodka
In case you haven't noticed, have gone for very locally sourced ingredients
where possible!
Haven't thought much about what to actually do with the final infusions,
though. Hoping people have some ideas and can also contribute ingredients? I
guess mojitos for the rum and bloody mary for tomato vodka?
They're in jars at the moment - If you have any old glass spirits or glass pop
bottles i can use to filter and decant into, please pop them round.
I can't find our old cocktail shaker and measure set - if anyone has an old set
they can spare please bring out.
Can people bring out clean jars we can use as cocktail glasses on the day?
Anyone got any cocktail sticks, umbrellas?
Cliff's building the bar to go inside the gazebo we're using. We'll use it to
display raffle prizes during the day, then i think will do a quick bit of
decorating to make it look more cocktail bar-ish ... I've got lights, tinsel
backdrops, mint growing in tubs and decorations to jazz it up a bit, but sadly
no pineapple shaped ice bucket.
I'm happy to help stock and construct it, but plan on just leaving people to it
after that, so if anyone fancies taking on the role of mixologist from 8pm -
please do!
Ian
