Dear David, As far as I know from previous years, presenting both sides of an argument is perfectly legit. as long as the pupil states his/her opinion / or inability to decide (E.g."Having presented both sides of this question, I am undecided as to which..... is preferable.") If no opinion whatsoever is stated explicitly or implicitly, then the pupil may lose 4+ points from the content category. Hope this helps. If a pupil writes the composition in the format of a "for and against" essay, is he/she penalised for this? I have a pupil who did this in his 'matkonet" and I don't know what to do. In my opinion, he has answered the question as he has stated his opinion, but he gave equal weight to the opposing view.
