Since 2005 I have been Israel's representative for the Asia TEFL
organization. In this capacity I have attended and presented at conferences
all over Asia. I have met wonderful people and learned so much. Over the
years a smattering of Israelis attended the Asia TEFL conferences. Many have
told me they were interested, but the expense, the timing and the distance
have all been obstacles that seemed insurmountable.
This year, the conference is to be held in Korea. The pandemic has wrecked
its havoc here as for so many organizations planning conferences. There will
be onsite participation only for Koreans and all other participants and
presenters will attend virtually.
This offers an opportunity for all of those who wanted to attend in the past
but could not for one reason or another. The Korean hosts have done an
unbelievable job in implementing the most advanced technology to make this
conference so much more than just hearing lectures while sitting in front of
your computers.
Having been selected as a promising international conference for growth in
the Korea Tourism Organization's meeting technology competition, AsiaTEFL
2020 will be Introducing diverse technologies including Hologram
Telepresence, MC Robot, Virtual Presentation, AR/VR, Smart Chatbot.
Setting a new norm and adopting new approaches in the context of COVID-19,
the AsiaTEFL 2020 International Conference is held from 1 p.m. - 9 p.m. both
Friday, November 27 and Saturday, November 28, as well as 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.,
Sunday, November 29, 2020 online and at KINTEX, in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do,
South Korea.
