I say WELCOME to all these new immigrants and new English teachers, if it
means I'm more likely to receive early pension... See? Always look at the
bright side of life...

"Both New Immigrants and New Teachers"
This is the title of the usual blah report on page 17 of "Israel Today"
(Israel Hayom).
"...the Ministry of Education is launching an innovative course to encourage
new immigrants to ... provide a solution for the lack of 1000 English
teachers... up to age 35 with academic education ... after selection they
will undergo a 14 months training course during which time they will receive
HOUSING AND A BURSARY (my capitals) with a teaching certificate on
completion.
The first Olim, who will become teachers in Israel, are expected in Israel
this morning ... and will be welcomed in a special reception with the
participation of Agency Head, Natan Sheransky."
This is truly wonderful, it sounds like the Min. is importing teachers and
in an act of munificence, is permitting their families to accompany them. It
s the housing that I envy, in the interest of fair play I think we should
all get it.
