One of the nice things about blogs is that you don't have to write it all
yourself. You can invite the people on this list supply the questions that
your blog answering would help, and also invite people here to guest post on
your blog on those same questions. A lot of the questions you have have
probably been answered here over the years, in which case you might be able
to collect the answers, and, giving proper credit of course, adapting them
to your blog's format.

I'd do that before you sit down with someone. I don't think there is anyone
who could clearly set it out in an hour or two, but if you put some more
time in, you will have a better set of questions to address to the experts
on this list.

You also might consider setting up a Wiki if you think you have enough
people to populate it with the information you'd like to share.

Subject: [etni] Fwd: request

Subject: request
From: Michaela Singer <michaeladarasinger@xxxxxxxxx>

Dear all,
I am an Olah Hadasha who has been teaching in Israel for two years now. I
would like to create a blog or something along those lines (even a plain
word document) that explains (in English) the VETEK system, along with all
these systems that I keep reading about but do not have a clear idea as to
what exactly they entail, for instance, Oz, Ofek, the Vetek system etc.

I would massively appreciate someone with an hour or two to spare,
experience in the system and the ability to explain the system clearly and
concisely, to sit with me over coffee and explain (while I type):

- the teacher union system
- the various reforms over the past few years, what they mean, and what
their implications are for teachers
- the Vetek system and how one progresses
- the employment organisations i.e how does the payment from the Amutas
differ from the Ministry, and why.

Many thanks for anyone who can contribute to this mini-project, I feel this
would make it a great deal clearer for many baffled and lost Olim that
really do not know what they are getting into when they become English
teachers.
