Cervantes, cast into prison by the Inquisition, (for a
attempting to collect taxes from a church) draws the prisoners into the world
of his creations Don Quixote and Sancho Panza. For the first time,  the 
prisoners begin to perceive the world of
ideals and imagination, the beauty of tilting at windmills.

This is Man of La Mancha, a musical that is more a play of serious
ideas and ideals.  I suggest that it
would be ideal viewing for any serious students of English, particularly those 
students
of ours studying literature. (There are subtitles in Hebrew.)

It is currently being presented by Logon, (a group to which
I have the honor of belonging), and which has been presenting musicals for 35
years in Israel. We are a group which embodies the traditions of English
amateur theatre, where people put on plays for the fun of it and because they
love them.  
 
It would be worth explaining this tradition to our students
I think. We in Logon pay membership fees to take part, and from this and ticket
sales we pay a professional director, music director, choreographer and members
of the orchestra to work with us on each show.

We appear across the country – Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa and
so forth. I would recommend seeing the show as a fine educational experience for
your students. Any teacher who  would
like to bring his students to see it is invited to contact me to arrange a
special group student discount price.
