-------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: Israel to import English teachers From: morris <morris@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Hello fellow Etniers My reaction is HA HA HA! What is the ministry going to be able to offer these people without raising the salaries of ALL the teachers in Israel - which according to the last article I read in the newspapers was UNDER NIS 5,000 on average. We want intelligent people to come and teach our children not ones who can't and don't read newspapers! It would be better to ask people to volunteer to teach English in Israel - because, at the price being paid - that's what it is! Actually, the Ministry should show greater appreciation for the dedication of the present English teachers who, from my knowledge, are very idealistic and hard working and continue to work in the profession out of pure idealism and not materialism! It is a pity that our Ministry spokesmen are looking for solutions via "deus ex machina" -- (An unexpected, artificial, or improbable character, device, or event introduced suddenly in a work of fiction or drama to resolve a situation or untangle a plot which cannot be solved in a real way).
