Subject: Academic Writing in a Multilingual Society

Announcement of Conference:

Academic Writing in a Multilingual Society Achva Academic College of Education - September 12, 2006

Because of the widened access to higher education and the changing nature of academic programs, supporting student writers at all levels of study is now a pedagogical imperative. In a multicultural society such as ours, when students are often expected to write in more than one language, this is especially true.

With this in mind, we have called for the first conference in Israel, to our knowledge, dealing specifically with academic writing. We invite proposals from all disciplines and from cross-disciplinary teams on a wide range of topics of concern to faculty, administrators, program designers, researchers, graduate students, and practitioners in universities, colleges, and secondary schools. Papers and small group presentations may be given in Hebrew, English, or Arabic. Keynote speakers will address the conference in
Hebrew and English (and include Dr. Asher Meir of the Business Ethics Center of Jerusalem).

Keep the date open!

Announcement of the web site where proposals may be sent will follow shortly.
