Subject: Additions to the "to do" list

Here are some suggestions to add to the "to do" list that I WOULD do, if I weren't in Azor Otef Azza, still slaving away:

1- FINALLY put all the family snapshots (still in their bags from the photographer's shop) into an album.

2- Make one of those beautiful collages (sp?) of family photographs either on polygal (if the budget allows,) or on a piece of carton from a discarded box. When G-d willing the strike is over and the "moo-la" comes in, you can get it framed!

3- Borrow one of those "teach yourself French" tapes so that you can finally learn what used to be THE international language. Who knows? It might be again in the future.

4- Call your family abroad-- collect of course-- and explain why you're being so chutzpadik. Who knows? You just might get a donation :)

5- Write Yuli Tamir again. Maybe she has an unknown learning disability and needs to read written material several times before ANYTHING sinks in.

6- Go out rock collecting. You just might find some crystals, mica or other pretty stones for your shelf where you used to put your "to check" papers.

7- Have a picnic with friends from your staff. (Everyone can bring his/her own food) and really enjoy each other instead of all those hurried rushed conversations that are cut off by the bell at the end of a break.

5- Go out and pick up litter. Our country is filthy. Ever time I do this I think , "G-d, I am doing the mitzva of cleaning up the HOLY land," not simply ground as there was in the USA where I lived.

6- Say Tehillim for the soldiers on active duty and those poor boys still in captivity. People who feel uncomfortable with this can simply sit and "talk to G-d" about these and any other issues. He understands us even when we don't read from a siddur or Tehillim.

7- Go down to the nearby rubbish bin and pour a bit of milk on a saucer for those starving kitties. Thanks to those kitties, you have no, or less mice and rats around.

8- Read all the back issues of National Geographic and feel as if you are on a trip which you cannot at present afford due to lack of salary.

9- Read lots of jokes; listen to old Bill Cosby or "Gashas Ha'Chiver" tapes. Nothing like a good belly laugh to improve your mood.

10- Ladies, be creative in the kitchen. There are many ways to make varied spaghetti sauces for spaghetti and fancy "pititim" with all kinds of spices and fried onion. Without a salary, "pititim" and spaghetti are good sources of carbohydrates which will be turned into sugar and then fat which leads me to number 11....

11- Finally get out and start walking regularly. Start with 10- 15 minutes and work your way up to 40 minutes. Wear your "on-strike" shirt, or carry a placard, and you will be killing 2 birds with one stone!

12- Sit down and write all those people who are important in your life that you usually never have time to be in touch with. We never know what tomorrow will bring. (i.e. Bagatz orders to go back to work.)

13- Play with your children: Taki; monopoly; trivia; chess; checkers..... anything and everything that you never usually have time for.

14- Ladies, go out to your local "Superpharm." Pretend you are a serious customer. Start "spritzing" all of those delicious expensive scents "just to try them out," that you won't be able to afford anyway once your salary starts coming in again. At least you will smell nice and be in a better mood to go home and cook the spaghetti or "pititim."

15- Thank G-d that despite all the upset and aggravation you are one of an outstanding cadre of dedicated people who help make our country a much better place. G-d grant that our grandchildren have teachers as dedicated!!!
