A number of people asked me for diagnostic tests for 7th grade, and I rudely
didn't do anything about it. I didn't have it on my computer, and I
couldn't find it among my papers. Now, in the process of my 4 times yearly
Pessach clean-out, I have come across it. I can fax it to anybody who is
interested.
It is basically a graduated test, from cognates, to not quite cognates (
e.g. mathematics), to short simple texts which themselves contain a lot of
cognates, to slightly more complex texts. If one wants to see just how high
a level one's 7th grade students have reached, one can start with a text
from unseens 1, and work up.
