----- Original Message ----- From: "Ron Friedman" <friedmanrond@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: Education Ministry calls to ban English songs from being played during recess Dear English teachers, Today the Education Ministry announced it would instruct schools to begin playing only Hebrew songs during school recesses and in all school events and activities. The inititative is part of the Ministry's dedication of 2010 as the year for Hebrew language. Is this a good thing? How, if at all, will this effect student's English skills? Will the focus on Hebrew come at the expence of English learning? Does this represent a shift in the Education Ministry's priorities? If you have any thoughts on the matter and are willing to share them with me for an article I'm writing for the Jerusalem Post, please contact me as soon as possible. Thank you for your cooperation.
