It has come to my attention that there are schools -Histadrut jr and even
Sr. high schools..where Histadrut teachers are being told to sub for
striking teachers.....furthermore..not all mayors are supportive..Benny
Cashreal,(Ma'aleh Adumim) is apparently so eager to supply immediate
satisfaction to his constituency that he has instituted programs for the
pupils with little thought to the future.. The fact that the classes have
had 40 pupils and that the level of teaching is not what it once was and
that many of the pupils might not be getting the help they need makes no
difference to him. I for one who so proudly was part of the opening of the
school system here in'82 ,am thankful that I no longer work in the jr hi
system here. During the first week of the current school year I met many
former colleagues who still work here and was the ONLY one who was smiling
and happy to be back... jesg
PS I LOVE my current school and am extremely proud of the "learning tent"
set up in Gan Vardim by the 12th graders and of our many students who
attended the "lessons" and gave the teachers their support!!
