Subject: Jade
This week Ilan Bar Shalom, Jade's husband visited me in the south when he
came down to make a last Books for Israel delivery to a Bedouin school in
Hura. I'm writing this message on his request.
Jade was diagnosed with brain cancer last summer and has been in treatment
since. Presently, she's at home and Ilan is devoted to taking care of her.
The cancerous brain tumor has stopped growing and has also receded somewhat,
but Jade is bedridden and unable to function as in the past.
Ilan would like to thank everyone in the English teachers community and
beyond for their kind help. The support everyone has shown has given a lot
of strength to Jade and her family. They are not giving up hope despite the
very difficult situation.
Let me just add the chorus of Peter Yarrow's song "Weave Me the Sunshine",
Weave, weave, weave me the sunshine Out of the falling rain Weave me the hope of a new tomorrow Fill my cup again.
May the Bar Shaloms see that ray of light.
