----- Original Message ----- From: byk - byk@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Missing Etai I'm really sorry that I will be missing Etai this year, and missing the round table discussion on HOTS in literature. I'm sorry be missing the meeting with the Irgun representative, too. Although I no longer teach in the system, I would like to help teachers fight for their rights. Do remember the fact that, in additon to everything else, high school teachers also have to deal with 3 separate exams for bagrut, as opposed to one in the past. Since this only applies to math and English, I wonder what remuneration was given for all the extra work this entails. I also suggest that you raise the question - to the Union representative - of forming a separate uniion. I know that there are some problems doing this, though I believe it can be done. However it should worry the union enough that they might start doing their jobs vis a vis English teachers. Has anyone any idea how many English teachers belong to the union? I think you have the right to this knowledge. A number of people have mentioned that they have been reprimanded for comments made on this site. Please remember to bring this up. I would be willing to do whatever it takes to organize a separate union or a powerful lobby within this one. Since I don't work for MOE, I don't have to be afraid of anyone. Have a good time, all you who are going to Etai.
