Have a discussion with students about things that make them angry. Make a list. On another day, make a list of all the things they do when they are angry. Do not judge them. These can be effective or ineffective strategies that they use. On still another day, together as a class, make a list of all the strategies they can use in your classroom. Eliminate the ones that are ineffective. When students get angry, remind them to use the effective strategies they made. Tuesday, August 15, 2006 "Think about the word, RESPONSIBILITY when teaching students to be responsible." The word responsibility can be divided into two parts: response and ability. Before children can make the response, they have to have the ability. They have to be capable of doing the job that needs to be done. More importantly, they have to want to do the task! Set an example of having fun doing the tasks. The more you make something like homework or cleaning up shelves seem difficult, the more children will not want to do it. Have fun helping your students have the ability to be response - able!!! Have a great day.
