First of all let me state that I also believe this is the wrong place for taking political sides.
However...
Up (or down) here in the wilds of the centre of the country - that area in Israel where the rich, powerful and educated, live - many junior high students probably don't know where Gaza is on the map. And in fact they would be hard pushed to find Israel on a map of the world. ( The maps of Israel on the walls of the schools are usually green, so it must be that large green bit in the north marked ...oh no that's Russia, so where is Israel?) Don't think I'm joking. I'm not.

So it might be an idea, while we're busy taking care of all the other areas of education not dealt with at school, to just go over what happened, is happening, and where it is happening. Just try not to colour the facts with personnal opinions.

Jennifer

ps. And when they set off for Poland, make sure that they know where they're going. A girl in my daughter's 12th grade class thought that Poland was the capital of Germany!
