Yes, we are beginning to sense the school year as it
approaches - my school begins on the 28th of August
despite the Ministry's instructions. I have been thinking
about the first lessons -allowing the pupils to release their
inner feelings about the war that has just ended(?).
I assume that those in the North will have psychologists
and counselors working with them but that doesn't mean
that the others were unaffected. I have been thinking
about handing out a page with questions or lead in
sentences on all different levels, which will allow for one
word answers, short sentence completion or full answers,
some of which will open up discussions. If anyone has any
ideas I would appreciate them writing to me and I will
of course show everyone the finished product.

Also, I was thinking about using the short story "War"
by Luigi Pirandello which is part of the ECB Anthology.
It is worthwhile reading even if you are an elementary
school teacher but I wanted people's opinion about opening
up the school year with it. Is it too hard emotionally?
I understand that there are schools who unfortunately
have siblings of soldiers who have died and therefore
might want to avoid it, but what about the others?
TIA
