Teachers.
While you are considering the situation concerning LD students, and the
enormous amount of work that English teachers have to put in, in order to
deal with their needs, please also consider the horrendous situation vis a
vis discipline in the classrooms.
This is not a subject that ought to be brushed under the table, for fear of
being accused of being a teacher who can't control the class. Teachers are
NOT animal trainers; a teacher should be able to give the lesson prepared,
without having to fight with toatally undisciplined classes, and with no
means at their disposal of dealing with unrully students. Even 20 children
in a class cannot be taught if they are allowed to do whatever they like.
I have just returned from teaching a student in the 6th grade, who lives in
a very exclusive area inthe centre of the country. They are on to their
FIFTH teacher this year!!!, because, in my students words "We don't let them
teach".
