Besides the cost of living consideration, it should be pointed out that in too many cases, the money is simply 'combat pay' ; public schools are not the place for the faint of heart! Add to this the fact that if teachers opt to send their own children to private schools for whatever reason/s, as most do (since they have 'inside information' about what goes on in the so-called public institutions of learning), they hardly have any purchase power left after paying high tuition costs. So, you see, we might as well stay here and keep complaining; who knows, perhaps one day we'll be paid a greater fraction of what we're worth! (In the meantime, we'll continue working with dedication, and attempt to deal with whatever obstacles are placed before us.) As they say back in Brooklyn, "Ya ain't gonna get rich bein' a teach!"
